Being the over achiever that she is, Natalia Peterson decided to begin the drama during the July Summer Orientation. Here she met a guy who seemed nice enough, so of course she gave this practical stranger her e-mail and phone number. Throughout the last month of summer, they e-mailed pretty regularly. By the end of the summer he had asked her out admitting that he could only afford to walk her to the cafeteria. Natalia, having never been asked out before in any manner, falls for this "cute" offer right away. The boy's name is Jonathan, Jon for short.

Boy is an accurate description for Jon, as he was only 16 when he met Natalia, and just turned 17 when college started. Natalia on the other hand was about to turn 18 when college started. This eleven month age gap did not initially disturb her, so she flirted willingly with the boy.

So when college finally began, Natalia found herself hanging out with Jon frequently within the first couple days. Jon shocks the crap out of her by giving her, her first kiss within days of starting college. They start "dating." If walking around, campus at night can be called dating.

Natalia did not spend all her time with Jon in her first couple days. She met a nice couple named Kim and Jason. They took her to church with them, and Natalia started attending church here regularly. Jon went too, along with other students from the college. It was a small church, with an older congregation, but they were nice enough. Natalia had not learned much about Christianity growing up, although she considered herself a Christian from her experiences with Teens for Christ in middle school. Her newly found religiousity started to conflict with her relationship with Jon.

Jon was speeding up the relationship too fast for Natalia's liking. He wanted to go all the way within the first week, and Natalia refused flatly, that she would not have sex until she got married. Then he asked her to marry him. This worried Natalia, because she wasn't ready for it, and because she wasn't sure what Jon wouldn't do to sleep with her. She talked to her friend Kim (leaving out gory details) that she was afraid Jon was controlling her, and that he wouldn't be able to slow down the relationship. Kim told Natalia a story.....

I never really dated someone before Jason, but there was one guy who was kind of vying for my attentions in high school. I followed him around, and did what he said, because it's easy to like someone who likes you. Then I realized that I wasn't always doing what I wanted, but instead was allowing him to sway me. It broke my heart, but I had to let him go.

Well Natalia knew that she needed to get out of her relationship, and soon, so it wouldn't hurt more than necessary. She went with Jon, Kim, and Jason to the local park. She and Jon walked off alone, and Natalia sat down and started to read a letter she had prepared for the occasion. She poured out all the problems that she had with the relationship, and that she didn't think it would work out, because they were on different pages. She ended by quoting a song she remembered from her childhood "We Just Disagree," by Dave Mason.

"There ain't no good guy. There ain't no bad guy. There's only you and me and we just disagree."

Thus the two and a half week relationship (if you can call it that) ended with no more than a lot of tears from Natalia. Jon was unmoved.

Blog Purpose

So the names have been changed to protect the innocent or not so innocent. This is the sum total of drama that can happen in four years of college. The truth really is stranger than fiction.
